Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- Intellectuals of different countries and regions of the world held an international seminar in Seoul on August 28 and published a declaration calling for establishing a peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula, according to the south Korean internet paper Thongil News. 60 years have passed since the ceasefire in the Korean war but the state of war is going on on the Korean Peninsula and a peace-keeping mechanism has not been established there, the declaration said. It is very important for achieving peace in Northeast Asia to end the ceasefire and terminate the division and establish a peace-keeping mechanism on the peninsula, it noted. It urged the U.S. to put an end to the relations of confrontation with the DPRK, a threat to peace on the peninsula and in Northeast Asia, and totally opt to bring the relations to normal. It called upon intellectuals to make international efforts to replace the armistice system on the peninsula by a peace-keeping mechanism. |
