Japan Urged to Make Apology for Massacre of Koreans
Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Solidarity of Citizens for Korean Victims of the 1923 Great Quake in Japan and other organizations of south Korea held a press conference at the "National Assembly" on Monday at which they demanded the Japanese government make a formal apology for the massacre of Koreans during the great Kanto quake in 1923.

The speakers recalled that the Japanese government proclaimed a martial law after the occurrence of the quake in Kanto in September 90 years ago and then spread wild rumors and hurled troops, police and "ultra-right organizations" into cruel massacre of Koreans.

Much water has flown under the bridge since then, the Japanese government has not made any formal apology for the massacre of Koreans during the quake, they charged.

They stressed the need to disclose all the Japanese imperialists' mass killings of Koreans so that the tragedy of crime-woven history may not repeat itself.

Then a press release was read out.

It demanded the Japanese government make public all the official information on the massacre of Koreans during the quake which it has concealed so far and, at the same time, immediately stop the moves to distort the history textbooks.

It urged the present "government" to make an immediate probe into the massacre of Koreans committed by the Japanese imperialists.
