Kim Il Sung, Father of Socialist Korea
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung is the founder of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the father of socialist Korea.

On September 9, Juche 37 (1948), he declared the birth of the DPRK, thus realizing the centuries-old desire of the Koreans for a genuine government.

Since then, the Korean people have played a role of master of the state and society and the DPRK has imposingly exercised its sovereign right in the international arena.

Kim Il Sung in his early years set out on the road of revolution, firmly resolved not to return home before Korea became independent and waged an anti-Japanese armed struggle for 20 years to liberate the country from the Japanese colonial rule.

After the country's liberation, he founded a people's government of Juche type on the basis of the line of building a people's power he originally advanced during the armed struggle.

To that effect, he ensured that democratic elections were held for the first time in Korea's history to establish the People's Committee of North Korea. He also convened the historic Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in North and South Korea and saw to it that the elections of deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly were held throughout Korea.

Meanwhile, he promulgated a series of laws on democratic reforms, such as the Agrarian Reform Law, the Nationalization of Major Industries Law, the Labour Law and the Law on Sex Equality.

His exploits performed for founding the DPRK, where the popular masses are masters of the state, will remain forever along with the history of socialist Korea.
