Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Choe Ryong Hae and other senior party, state and army officials, the chairpersons of the friendly parties, deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, officials of social organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, literature and arts, public health and media, labor innovators, working people in Pyongyang, delegations of overseas Koreans, visiting groups and compatriots staying in the socialist homeland to mark the 65th birthday of the DPRK and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, made a report.

The DPRK is the socialist state of Juche shining with the unique idea of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on nation-building and their leadership feats and serves as a powerful weapon guaranteeing the independent dignity and national prosperity of the Korean people, he said, and went on:

Kim Il Sung declared before the world the founding of the DPRK on Sept. 9, Juche 37 (1948) on the basis of a solid foundation for the building of an independent and sovereign state after the liberation of Korea.

The founding of the DPRK marked a great historic event as it paved a wide avenue for the Korean people to enjoy a free and happy life as masters of a state sovereignty with their genuine country, the first of its kind in the nation's history spanning five thousand years.

Under the outstanding and seasoned leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il the DPRK developed into a socialist power with invincible might under the uplifted revolutionary banner of Juche.

The DPRK is a genuine country for people which has successfully embodied Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's noble idea of believing in people as in Heaven.

They, regarding the above-said idea as the fundamental ideal of nation-building, made sure that the DPRK government strictly orientated all its lines, policies and activities to protecting the desires and interests of the people and providing them with rich material and cultural living conditions.

Under their tested and seasoned leadership the DPRK successfully pursued the policy of loving and believing the people, turning the whole country into a great, harmonious and united family.

The DPRK is an independent socialist power, strong in Juche character and national identity.

Regarding it as a basic principle to maintain the Juche character, national identity and independent line in nation-building and activities, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il wisely led the work to thoroughly implement it.

The DPRK is an invincible power of Mt. Paektu emerging victorious and demonstrating its might by dint of Songun.

Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, pioneers and leaders of the Songun revolution, paid primary attention to military affairs in the whole period of leading the DPRK and directed big efforts to bolstering up the military capabilities of the country in every period and at every stage of the developing revolution.

Under their guidance the DPRK beat back the U.S. imperialist aggressors who invaded the less than two years old-people's country to nip it in the bud, honorably protecting its freedom and independence, and achieved victories one after another in the confrontation with the imperialists, firmly defending the sovereignty of the country and gains of the revolution.

Their outstanding idea and energetic leadership provided important guidelines such as the three charters for national reunification and a powerful driving force for the reunification movement and ushered in the June 15 era of reunification and a rosy future of national reunification.

The DPRK is now greeting a new heyday of building a thriving socialist nation under the guidance of supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

It is the noble duty of the service personnel and people of the DPRK to hold Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal leaders of the revolution, eternal President of the DPRK and eternal chairman of the National Defence Commission and achieve the historic cause of building a thriving socialist nation and accomplishing national reunification under the guidance of Kim Jong Un.
