Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- The Musical Instrument Faculty of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory became one of the winners at the recent 7th Pyongyang Musical Instruments Exhibition, which takes place every two years. The faculty is now three years old. Those musical instruments presented by the faculty for the exhibition included kayagum and sohaegum (traditional Korean stringed instruments), jangsaenap and violin. In this regard, KCNA had an interview with Yun Si Nam, dean of the faculty. Yun said: In December Juche 99 (2010) leader Kim Jong Il suggested opening a musical instrument faculty at the conservatory. The dear respected Kim Jong Un learned about the issues arising in training musical instrument makers several times last year and saw to it that talented young people studied five years at the faculty. Taking much of its courses are hands-on experiments at which take place at musical instrument factories in Pyongyang and local areas. My faculty will remain a winner at the exhibition in the future, too. |
