The symposium was divided into the panels of therapeutics, surgery, Koryo medicine, hygienic and anti-epidemic, basic medical science and pharmaceutics.

Presented to the symposium were at least 290 papers showing the successes made by scientists, teachers, researchers and medical workers in the work for placing the nation's medical science and technology and preventive and curative medical care on a new scientific and technological basis.

Drawing the attention of the participants were valuable papers introducing scientific and technological achievements helpful to consolidating the material and technical foundations of the socialist health system and the improvement of the people's health.

Highly appreciated at the symposium were the papers presented by teachers and researchers of Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, Chongjin University of Medicine, Kim Hyong Jik Military Medical University, Academy of Koryo Medicine, Sariwon Municipal People's Hospital No. 2, Sinuiju Municipal Hygienic and Anti-epidemic Centre, etc. and doctors in the field of hygienic and anti-epidemic work for their great practical significance.

The results of the examination were announced and relevant certificates awarded to the successful papers at the closing ceremony held at the Grand People's Study House.
