Speakers at the press conference recalled that Dong-A Ilbo on Sept. 2 released a false story that a youth and children's organization urged youth and children to "join the youth and children's committee of the Unified Progressive Party (UPP)," not content with taking issue with those young people involved in actions for issuing declarations on the situation and candlelight actions.

They also blasted the newspaper for telling one more lie in the story. Quoting a guy concerned of the security authorities, the newspaper said that the "Youngsters Community's Hope in 21st Century" is styling itself a civil organization for sound movement of youth and children but its records prove that it has served as a channel through which some youth and children advanced into the UPP after receiving ideological education.

The speakers held that the security authorities suppress even youth and children under the pretext of false case in a bid to attack the opposition party by using them as a political lever.

They demanded the newspaper kill the false story, release a correction and make an apology as early as possible.
