Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association issued a joint statement on Sept. 10 in protest against the south Korean conservative group's suppression of the progressive democratic forces. The statement said that the above-said organizations of Britain are watching the action taken by the south Korean authorities to arrest a lawmaker from the Unified Progressive Party on charge of "the attempted rebellion", adding it is a disgusting fascist "witch-hunt", a brutal suppression of the party and other democratic forces. The case is a reckless campaign to block the reconciliation and detente between the north and the south, the statement said, and continued: The south Korean puppet regime is linking the recent case with the DPRK, escalating the tensions. The regime is pursuing two aims: eradicating the progressive democratic forces and escalating the tensions and confrontation with the DPRK. We demand that the south Korean authorities drop the charges brought against the lawmaker and release all arrested pro-reunification patriots and progressive people. We urge all progressive forces and trade unions of Britain to condemn such fascist suppression in south Korea. |
