Spectacular Successes Made in Implementation of WPK's Educational Policy

Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- One year has passed since the adoption of the ordinance on enforcing the universal compulsory 12-year education at the Sixth Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK. Great successes have been made during the past one year through the drive to successfully apply the idea of the Workers' Party of Korea on attaching importance to the rising generation and education. At least 900 winners of university student research prize and many holders of certificates of invention and rationalization proposals were produced from among students. Students of Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology proved successful at the internet program contests. Students Hong Chung Song and Pak Ji Hyon won gold medals at the 54th International Math Olympics and all other Korean participants also proved successful at it. More than 1,100 students won the July 15 Honor Student Prize. At least 9 300 teachers were honored with October 8 model professors and nearly 5,000 teachers with holder of new teaching method registration cards. They are discharging their mission in the work to bring up the pillars of the country. Talented musicians are produced continuously at Kyongsang Kindergarten and students of Kumsong School proved successful at the 10th international festival "Moscow greets friends" held in Russia and other international art festivals. Reliable sportspersons of the DPRK prove successful at the 27th World Universiad and other international games, glorifying the country with gold medals. Youngsters are giving full play to beautiful traits of devotedly working for the party and the leader, the country and its people. More than 450 graduates from 18 universities of education and teacher training colleges from across the country volunteered to be teachers of schools in forefront islands and mountainous areas and went to difficult fields. A lot of graduates from senior secondary schools in Kangwon Province volunteered to the construction site of the Sepho tableland. |
