US Gangster-like Demand for Upkeep of Forces in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- At least 30 organizations of south Korea including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Solidarity for Progress and the Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society held a press conference in Seoul on Sept. 25. The speakers at the conference disclosed that over 1.4 trillion won of expenses paid by south Korea for the upkeep of the U.S. forces have been diverted for other purposes. This being a hard fact, the U.S. is moving to force the south Korean authorities to bear more than a trillion won for the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea at the negotiations for a special agreement on sharing the expenses, they said. Noting that the U.S. side was originally to cover the cost for the upkeep of its forces in south Korea, they said that it is an unacceptable humiliation to provide the U.S. forces with the huge amount of money for which south Korea holds no responsibility. They urged the south Korean authorities to stop the illegal and unjust negotiations, recollect the upkeep misused by the U.S. forces and abolish the special agreement. |
