The university, founded by President Kim Il Sung on October 1, Juche 42 (1953), has developed into a pedigree institution for training architectural talents of the country and a center for construction science and research pushing back the frontiers of latest science and technology under the wise guidance of the party and the leader over the past 60 years.

The university ensured on the highest level the designing of many architectures and famous edifices worth their value as national treasure including the Kim Jong Il Military Institute of Kim Il Sung Military University, E-Library of Kim Chaek University of Technology, the Pyongyang Folklore Park and the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery.

A meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the university took place at the Central Youth Hall on Monday.

A congratulatory message of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was conveyed to the teachers and students of the university.
