Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- The United Confederation of Koreans in Russia issued a statement on September 30 to mark the 6th anniversary of the October 4 declaration. It urged the south Korean authorities to drop their anachronistic confrontation conception if they truly want the improved north-south relations. The statement recalled that the historic north-south summit was held in Pyongyang in October, 2007 and the October 4 declaration was adopted there, drawing warm welcome and support not only from all Koreans in the north and the south but from the whole world. But the slowly improving inter-Korean relations have again hit a snag due to the south Korean regime, it noted, and went on: It is preposterous for the south Korean authorities to claim that the recent positive progress made in the north-south relations is entirely ascribable to their "theory of principle". It is a well-known fact that the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the north-south relations, which had been extremely strained due to the racket kicked off by the U.S. and the south Korean regime to stifle the DPRK early this year began to improve thanks to the positive and generous peace-loving measures taken by the DPRK. Dialogue between the authorities of the north and the south was held for restarting the operation in the Kaesong Industrial Zone to be followed by the talks between their Red Cross bodies. All this clearly indicates who truly stands for peace, cooperation and reunification and who pursues confrontation behind the scene of dialogue, seeking ulterior political purposes. The inter-Korean relations should develop strictly on the basis of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. |
