The president said in his statement issued on September 24 that Kim Jong Il performed great exploits by leading the WPK for decades.

He went on:

It was the distinguished feat performed by Kim Jong Il in the party building that he led the WPK to consistently adhere to the revolutionary principles.

Kim Jong Il led the WPK to steadfastly advance along the road of socialism without the slightest vacillation late in the last century when the DPRK faced the worst trial.

He formulated the unique Songun politics as a main political mode under socialism and thoroughly embodied it, protecting the sovereignty and dignity of the country and socialism and making a great contribution to the global peace and security.

He developed the WPK into an invincible party which deeply rooted among the masses and the mother party which achieved a harmonious whole with the people.

Marshal Kim Jong Un made sure that Kim Jong Il was held in high esteem as eternal general secretary of the WPK and clarified his firm will to carry forward and accomplish the idea and cause of Kim Jong Il.

I hope that the WPK and the Korean people will achieve greater successes in their struggles for building an economic power and defending the peace and security of the country under the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Un.
