Rodong Sinmun Slams S. Korean Regime's Moves to Scrap North-South Declarations

Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet regime recently examined and worked out "the second principal plan for the development of the south-north relations". It calls for deleting the plans of the previous regime for settling the pending issues between the north and the south of Korea through dialogue and negotiations and "leading the north to changes through a balanced promotion of security, exchange and cooperation". And these points are laid down as "goals of the policy towards the north" to be pursued in the 5 years to come.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a commentary:

The south Korean puppet regime talked about "confidence" and "cooperation" while describing its military confrontation campaign being staged under the pretext of "security" as the one for defending "peace". This is an unpardonable provocation to the DPRK.

What merits a serious attention is that the regime deleted all the points specified in the October 4 declaration such as establishing a special zone for peace and cooperation in the West Sea of Korea and pushing ahead with the establishment of a lasting peace mechanism, etc.

It is an unpardonable anti-reunification and treacherous action to refuse to respect and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the reunification programmes common to the nation.

The plan of the regime is nothing but an anti-reunification document and a scenario for the confrontation of the social systems in the north and the south from A to Z as it is aimed at scrapping the above declarations and more desperately stepping up the moves to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK.

It is the only way of improving the north-south relations and achieving the common prosperity of the Korean nation to respect and implement the said declarations.

It is the height of impudence and an unpardonable mockery of the people for the regime to talk about "the development of the south-north ties" while wantonly violating the October 4 declaration.

It would be well advised to bear in mind that the confrontation between the north and the south will bring nothing but a war and it is fated to meet a miserable self-destruction.
