The statement said that the October 4 Declaration, which serves as a signal landmark in the struggle for independently realizing Korea's reunification in the idea of "By our nation itself," was adopted thanks to the ardent love for the nation possessed by leader Kim Jong Il out of patriotism.

The statement went on:

The declaration gave great delight to all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad.

But the Lee Myung Bak regime totally denied the October 4 Declaration through confrontation, treachery and provocation.

The present south Korean fascist government turned aside from the nation's long-cherished desire and waged the large-scale military drills against the DPRK and cracked down the pro-reunification progressive forces.

The DPRK is making sincere efforts for peace, reconciliation and reunification despite the continued provocations by the south Korean authorities.

This showed the DPRK government's ardent compatriotism and love for the nation.

We send full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their endeavors to implement the October 4 Declaration.

We express the belief that the atmosphere of peace, reconciliation and cooperation will further mount on the Korean Peninsula in the idea of "By our nation itself".
