The statement said:

The history of the WPK is a proud history in which it guided the Korean people in their struggle for the socialist revolution, the building of a thriving nation and the cause of national reunification under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Kim Il Sung founded the WPK on October 10, 1945 and led the anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution, the Fatherland Liberation War, postwar reconstruction and socialist revolution to victory by enhancing the leading position and role of the party in the revolution and construction.

Kim Jong Il developed and enriched the party-building idea and exploits of Kim Il Sung and thoroughly developed the WPK into the party of the leader guided by the Juche idea.

He made sure that the party firmly maintained the principles of independence and socialism in the struggle for frustrating the anti-socialist moves of the imperialists and reactionaries in the closing year of the past century.

The party-building ideas of Kim Il Sung, founder of the WPK, and Kim Jong Il, eternal general secretary, will serve as banner of victory for the world revolutionary people.

The statement expressed conviction that the Korean people would surely achieve the cause of building a thriving nation and national reunification under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the WPK.
