DPRK Holidays Observed by Foreign Newspapers

Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Newspapers of various countries dedicated special write-ups to the 16th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the 68th anniversary of the WPK. The October 2 issue of the Uruguayan newspaper La Juventud dedicated one whole page to an article titled "Kim Jong Il, eternal general secretary of the WPK" with his smiling portrait. The paper dealt in detail with the fact that Kim Jong Il was elected general secretary of the WPK on Oct. 8, 1997 and bolstered the political, ideological and military might of the country in every way, upholding the banner of Songun, and that he laid out the grand plan for building a thriving nation and energetically led the struggle for realizing it. The October 3 issue of the Lao newspaper Congtap Pasason Lao carried a picture of Marshal Kim Jong Un and edited an article praising his greatness. The paper introduced in detail the fact that love for the people is the starting point of all thinking and activities of Kim Jong Un and the highest principle and aim of politics pursued by him. The October 1 issue of a newspaper of the United Arab Emirates carried an article titled "October 10 is the anniversary of the WPK" with a photo of Kim Jong Un. The paper said the WPK founded and wisely led by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il has been further strengthened and developed under the leadership of Kim Jong Un. The September 30 issue of the Myanmar newspaper The New Age carried an article with a photo of Kim Jong Un in which it praised his popular traits. |
