Inter-Korean Buddhists Mass Prays for Reunification
Pyongyang, October 12 (KCNA) -- The north-south joint Buddhists mass praying for country's reunification to mark the 6th anniversary of the restoration of Singye Temple on Mt. Kumgang took place at the temple on Saturday.

Present there were office-bearers of the Central Committee of the Buddhist Federation of Korea, monks of Singye Temple and believers from the north side and those of Buddhist Jogye Order from the south side.

Speeches were made, which was followed by a Buddhist ritual. Then a joint prayer of the north-south Buddhist mass praying for the country's reunification was read out.

The speakers said that the Singye Temple, though it has been restored to its original state by the joint efforts of the Buddhists in the north and the south, is not fulfilling its role as a key Buddhist temple for reunification and the distrust and confrontation deepen between the north and south due to the obstructive maneuvers of the anti-reunification conservative forces at home and abroad. And unpardonable acts go on, defaming and ignoring the valuable successes achieved in the June 15 era, they added.

The speakers called on Buddhists of the north and south to fulfill their mission as Buddhist saints for reunification and turn out in the practical actions for improving the north-south relations and achieving the reconciliation and unity of the nation.

The prayer clarified the pledge of the Buddhists of the north and south to work hard to foil the moves against the nation and reunification on the part of hostile forces at home and abroad, remove the danger of war and achieve the durable peace and reunification on this land in Dharma-minded concord as indicated by the inter-Korean declarations.
