Kim Jong Un Enjoys Performance Given by Orchestra of 21st Century of Russia

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Supreme leader Kim Jong Un together with Ri Sol Ju enjoyed the performance given by the visiting Orchestra of 21st Century of Russia at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Oct. 15. They were greeted by Pavel Ovsyannikov, head and chief conductor of the orchestra, and Natalia Ivanovna Semyonova, administrative manager of the orchestra. Kim Jong Un warmly welcomed the DPRK visit of the orchestra and had a cordial talk with the guests. Recalling that General Secretary Kim Jong Il watched the performance of the orchestra several times, Kim Jong Un appreciated the performing activities conducted by the orchestra, contributing to the development of the bilateral friendly relations. The head of the orchestra expressed sincere thanks to Kim Jong Un on behalf of his orchestra for sparing his precious time to watch its performance and renewed his resolution to contribute to boosting the bilateral friendly relations between the two countries. The orchestra which came to the DPRK on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the opening of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Russia put on the stage a chorus and orchestra, a collection of famous songs on the theme of opera "Rusulan and Ludmila" composed by Glinka, and female solo "Flying in the Sky over Russia" and other colorful numbers. The artistes made a truthful artistic representation of the warm love of the Russian people for the country and their traditional custom and national emotion. A chorus and orchestra "Forward towards Stars" composed by the head of the orchestra deeply impressed the audience. The artistes well known to the Korean people sang songs "Ardent Desire" and "Song of Comradeship" successfully represented to suit the thinking and feelings of the Korean people. Kim Jong Un congratulated the artistes on their successful performance. At the end of the performance, he met with the leading members of the orchestra and expressed thanks to them for presenting a splendid performance to the delight of the Korean people. Among the audience were Kim Ki Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, creators and artistes of the art organizations of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and art education institutions, teachers, students and other citizens in Pyongyang. Russian embassy officials also appreciated the performance. |
