Joint Performances Given by Artistes of DPRK, Russia

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- Joint performances were given by the artistes of the National Symphony Orchestra of the DPRK and the Orchestra of the 21st Century of Russia at the Mansudae Art Theatre on Friday and Saturday. Famous conductors, players and vocalists of the two countries put on the stage choruses immortal revolutionary hymns "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il", chorus and orchestral music "Kalinka" and other numbers. Through chorus and orchestral music "Ode to the Motherland", orchestral music "Carmen Overture", female solo "Flying over Sky above Russia" and unaccompanied chorus and male solo "On Vast Plain" mesmerized the audience as the performers represented high artistic ability and rendition skills. Vocalists of the two countries sang female duet "Ardent Desire" and mixed quartet "Eternal Friends", adding to the atmosphere of the performances. "Forward toward Stars" composed and represented by Pavel Ovsyannikov, head and chief conductor of the orchestra, made artistic representation of the spirit of Juche Korea which demonstrated its space science and technology, and general national power before the world through the successful launch of satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2. Through chorus and orchestral music "Our Leader Loved by the People" the performers sang high praises of the boundless trust in Marshal Kim Jong Un. Among the audience were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture, and officials concerned and art troupes of armed forces organs, creators and artistes in the field of literature and art, journalists and media persons and other people in Pyongyang. Alexandr Timonin, Russian ambassador to the DPRK and his embassy members enjoyed the performance. |
