Displayed at its venue were photos documenting the undying exploits of leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Parveen Gupta, secretary general of the society, noted in his lecture titled "For independent reunification, peace and prosperity":

"Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity" was adopted in Pyongyang on October 4, 2007.

The October 4 declaration is aimed to reunify Korea independently in the spirit of "By our nation itself" clarified by the June 15 joint declaration, give utmost priority to the dignity and interests of the Korean nation and orient everything to carrying it out.

So the declaration gives perfect clarification to all the issues arising in promoting the development of inter-Korean relations, ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula and meeting the common interests of the nation.

It indicates an important way of defusing military tension on the peninsula, actively accelerating the development of inter-Korean relations and achieving co-prosperity of the nation as it fully reflects the aspiration of the Korean nation for settling all the issues in conformity with the desire for reconciliation, cooperation and reunification after discarding the biased viewpoint left by the era of confrontation.

The south Korean authorities should sincerely implement the October 4 declaration and do away with the anachronistic confrontation idea.
