Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Russia's Orchestra of the 21st Century is one of the Korean people's favorite foreign art troupes. Over the past years the Orchestra gave performances of diverse themes in Pyongyang. Not only its separate performances but also joint performances with experienced art troupes of the DPRK left an indelible impression on the spectators, as they well represented the national feelings and sentiment of the two peoples. On October 18 and 19, this year, the orchestra conducted again joint performances with the DPRK's National Symphony Orchestra. Through the performances, characterized by attractive and elegant conduct, dulcet and passionate singing with voice of great volume, and skilful rendition, the two art troupes fully displayed their faculties, touching the heartstrings of spectators. Such joint performances of Russian and Korean artistes were given in Pyongyang on several occasions, including May Day in 2010 and the International Women's Day in 2011, deepening the friendship between the two countries. On October 15 the Orchestra of the 21st Century had the honor to give a performance in the presence of Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the DPRK. That day Kim Jong Un met with Pavel Ovsyannikov, head and chief conductor of the orchestra, and Natalia Ivanovna Semyonova, its administrative manager. He praised the orchestra for its activities conducive to the development of friendly relations between the DPRK and Russia, recalling that leader Kim Jong Il enjoyed its performances several times in his lifetime. |
