The Suwon District Prosecutor's Office arrested and prosecuted the chairman and the vice-chairman of the Kyonggi Provincial Committee of the Unified Progressive Party and others on charges of plotting rebellion and violating the "Security Law".

The puppet group intensified the crackdown, absurdly charging that they held a secret meeting to hatch a plot for destroying institution facilities and discuss a plan to kill people.

Meanwhile, conservative organizations held a press conference in Seoul and cried hoarse that the Unified Progressive Party that stands for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and dismantlement of the south-U.S. alliance should be dissolved.
