S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Progressive Forces Slammed

Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Kyong Ryol, vice-chairman of the Central Association of Korean Nationals in Russia, Monday made public a statement in denunciation of the south Korean puppet authorities' move to forcibly dissolve the Unified Progressive Party (UPP). The statement referred to the fact that the south Korean conservative group is making desperate efforts to forcibly dissolve the UPP, a legitimate political party. The group has suppressed the UPP for having conducted just activities for independence and democracy in south Korean society and national reunification, after labeling it "enemy of liberal democracy" and "political party following the north". Not content with this, the group is working with bloodshot eyes to totally dissolve the UPP, the statement said, and went on: This is a blatant challenge to the south Korean people desirous of social democracy and genuine freedom of political activities and a fascist repressive racket to eliminate the pro-reunification patriotic forces. Such politically-motivated repressive act to forcibly dissolve a political party for the mere reason that it desires progress and pursues different political idea from the group is a tragedy that can be seen in south Korea only. The campaign kicked off by the conservative group to eliminate the progressive forces including the UPP is aimed to divert elsewhere the growing criticism of it owing to the Intelligence Service's interference in the election and tide over its political crisis. The south Korean puppet conservative group should clearly know that the more desperately it hatches fascist plots and kicks up a repressive racket contrary to the trend of the times, the stronger resistance and condemnation of south Koreans and all other compatriots it will face and the sterner judgment of history it will meet. |
