Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- The Students Committee of the Democratic Party and the Youth and Students Committee of the Justice Party of south Korea held a press conference at the "National Assembly" on Thursday demanding the resignation of the chairman of the Committee for Compiling National History who distorted the history of the nation. At the press conference speakers accused the chairman of passing the screening of the textbooks complied by conservatives in such a way as to distort the history of the independence movement of the Korean nation and embellish the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule. They denounced the chairman for having already called Syngman Rhee as a "savior" and insulted the national character. He is not qualified to work at the committee as he has such biased understanding of history, they charged. Such act can never be pardoned, they declared, urging him to apologize for his reckless acts before the people and step down at once. |
