Rodong Sinmun Denounces S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Teachers Union
|
|
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the puppet Ministry of Employment and Labor and Ministry of Education of south Korea deprived the progressive Teachers Union (Jongyojo) of its legitimate status as a trade union under the absurd pretext that the union continues to recognize the discharged teachers as unionists. Meanwhile, the conservative group is harshly suppressing Jongyojo on charges that it is the "enemy inside south Korea", "the core of the forces following the north" and "arch criminal who turned campuses into confusion." Rodong Sinmun Monday says in a commentary in this regard: The puppet forces' crackdown upon Jongyojo is a brutal repressive campaign to eliminate the progressive and democratic forces and turn the whole land of south Korea into a theater of fascist rowdyism where justice and democracy are wantonly violated and into a society dominated by the ultra-right conservative forces. The union has so far conducted legitimate activities as evidenced by its actions opposing the revival of the "yusin" dictatorship and disclosing the crimes the ruling forces committed by selling off the nation's interests to outside forces in solidarity with trade union organizations and democratic forces of various circles that struggled for democratic rights and right to existence. The puppet conservative forces, regarding this as a thorn in their flesh, have persistently threatened and blackmailed the union under unreasonable pretexts. They finally declared "the trade union outside law" and decided to take a legal action against it, disclosing their sinister intention to stamp out the union. The puppet forces' desperate efforts to stamp out the union are a trite method they employed whenever they found themselves in a predicament. This is a reckless action to tide over their ever-deepening ruling crisis and get rid of the abyss of self-destruction. Facts go to clearly prove that the puppet forces are a group of traitors who turn south Korea into a theater of "yusin" dictatorship while regarding the fascist crackdown as an all-powerful means for their long-term office. The present ruling forces of south Korea should bear in mind that the "yusin" dictator met a miserable end in face of the people's strenuous struggle for democracy. |
