DPRK FM Spokesman's Statement Supported by British Organizations

Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the British Branch of the Korean Friendship Association issued a joint statement on October 24 in support of the DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman's statement issued on October 23. The statement said that it is none other than the U.S. that is throwing a wet blanket over the fair and aboveboard proposal of the DPRK which loves peace more than any other country. It said: The U.S. is running the whole gamut of hostile provocations against the DPRK as evidenced by the introduction of its nuclear-powered carrier into the waters off the Korean Peninsula from its invariable hostile policy toward the latter. This is a grave threat to the DPRK's sovereignty and peace in the Asia-Pacific region, an indication that the "peaceful co-existence" touted by the U.S. is nothing but a hypocritical ploy. It is none other than the U.S. which spawned the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula by shipping nukes into south Korea in wanton violation of the Korean Armistice Agreement. It was the U.S. aggressive and hostile policy toward the DPRK that compelled the latter to have access to nuclear deterrent. It is, therefore, preposterous for the U.S. to force the DPRK to dismantle its nukes. The U.S. is making desperate efforts to disarm the DPRK but this is a serious miscalculation. The U.S. demand for the DPRK's unilateral dismantlement of its nukes is nothing but an intrigue to stifle socialist Korea of Juche centered on the popular masses. If the U.S. truly stands for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, it should defuse its nuclear threat to the DPRK and immediately withdraw all its aggressor forces from south Korea. We are of the view that it is entirely just for the DPRK to bolster up its war deterrent. |
