24th National Software Contest, Exhibition Close
Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- The 24th national software contest and exhibition were closed with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House on Monday. They were opened on October 29.

The contest and exhibition involved a competition in programs for English-Korean and Chinese-Korean translation and programs for simulation of sports games, IT exchange and program services.

In the exhibition of computerization of operations at ministries and national institutions the Ministry of Finance took the special place and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Light Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the Ministry of Public Health and the State Commission of Quality Management took the first place.

In the field of industrial establishments Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill, the Inspection and Quarantine Station for Exports and Imports of North Phyongan Province and the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex were highly appreciated.

Kim Chaek University of Technology took the special place and more than 130 programs presented by Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, the Central Information Agency for Science and Technology, Huichon University of Technology and other units proved successful at the program exhibition.

The Pyongyang Information Technology Bureau and Kim Chaek University of Technology placed first in the contest of programs for translation. The tele-education system "Ryongnamsan" from Kim Il Sung University and its two other programs took the first place in the contest of programs for tele-education. Programs presented by Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, the Academy of Sports Science, Kim Chaek University of Technology and other units came first in various program contests.

Competitions of programs included competition of the latest programs and competition of program introduction. Programs presented by Kim Il Sung University, the Industrial Information Research Center of the State Academy of Sciences, etc. came first in the competitions.

Pyongyang City and South Hamgyong Province took the first place in the provincial standing of the contest and exhibition.

Present at the closing ceremony were Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences, Kim Jae Song, minister of Electronics Industry, officials concerned and program developers.

Silk banners, certificates of registration of programs and medals and prizes were awarded to the successful units and participants.

Choe Sang Gon, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, made a closing address.
