Legends about Mt. Kumgang (4)
|
|
Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- Samsonam and Kwimyonam in the Manmulsang (myriad-shaped peaks) Valley of Mt. Kumgang tell about a legend well known among the local people. Once upon a time, three wizards went sightseeing of sceneries across the land of Korea. One day, they came to Mt. Kumgang after touring all of scenic spots throughout the country. When they climbed up the mountain, fascinated by the scenery of Manmulsang, they happened to see some of fairies descending on a rainbow to one of rocks of Manmulsang. They stopped climbing and enjoyed themselves seeing the fairies. In the meantime, darkness began to land on the mountain and they walked back their way. As they reached the entrance to Manmulsang, they suddenly came across some demons. Amazed by the wizards, the demons ran away, with one of them standing still, overwhelmed by the wizards. Abruptly, the demon turned to be a rock, which is now called Kwimyonam. And the three wizards turned themselves into rocks as warriors likely to defend Manmulsang from the attack of the demons. The rocks are now called Samsonam. |
