Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- A campaign is gaining in scope and strength in south Korea to protest against the puppet regime's racket for cracking down on the opposition Unified Progressive Party (UPP). The puppet regime on Nov. 5 passed the motion calling for judgment aimed at disbanding the UPP through the "State Council meeting" despite strong public opposition. The UPP held an emergency press conference at the plaza of the Seoul City Office on Nov. 5 protesting against the regime's moves to forcibly dissolve the UPP. At the press conference speakers termed the suppression of the UPP, a legitimate political party, an illegal and undemocratic act of trampling down the political freedom of the people. The Park Geun Hye regime and the "Saenuri Party" are violating democracy by calling back the departed soul of "yusin" just as Syngman Rhee, Park Chung-Hee, Chun Doo Hwan and Roh Tae Woo did to seize power by fraudulent methods, they held. Members of the leadership of the UPP, core members of the Federation of Peasants Associations and the Youth Solidarity and other people held a candlelight rally. Kim Jae Yon, lawmaker from the UPP, said the acts of violating law are being committed by Chongwadae and the "Saenuri Party", warning that the suppression of the progressive political party would precipitate the final end of the Park Geun Hye regime. Ro Jong Hyon, member of the Ryonje District Assembly of Pusan from the UPP, declared he could not recognize crafty and incompetent Park as "president" as she took office through election rigging. Ri Kwang Sok, chairman of the Federation of Peasants Associations, said that if the UPP should be dissolved for its actions for workers and peasants, the peasants' struggle for vital rights would lead to that for democracy. Yun Hui Suk, representative of the Youth Solidarity, questioned whom the regime is trying to judge and dissolve though it is not qualified due to the election rigging, adding that the present regime hostile to the workers and peasants is, indeed, the force seeking rebellion and the target to be disbanded. Meanwhile, the emergency joint council of members of the Central Committee of the UPP and chairmen of its regional committees held an emergency meeting at which it declared that the recent tyrannical action spearheaded by Park Geun Hye would not be able to escape a stern judgment by the people. A protest campaign continued on Nov. 6, too. Lawmakers from the UPP had their hair cut close and launched an indefinite hunger strike. Earlier, they held a meeting outside the "National Assembly" building at which they denounced the authorities for making the UPP a target to be dissolved with lies and intrigues. |
