Legends about Mt. Kumgang (6)
|
|
Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- There is a bear-shaped rock on the mid-slope of Junggwanum Peak standing in the Manmulsang (myriad-shaped peaks) Valley of Mt. Kumgang. The rock tells about a legend well known among the local people. Once upon a time, there lived a 100-year-old bear on Piro Peak. After the hibernation, the hungry bear had to search for something to eat. When it reached the top of Junggwanum Peak, he happened to see acorns scattered in a pond. It mistook small pebbles in the lucid water for acorns dropped last autumn. The bear, faint with hunger, jumped into the pond to take the feed. But, its body was dropped on the mid-slope of the peak with its hind feet caught in a crevice of a rock. It could not escape from the rock, only looking down at acorns in the water. Years after years, the bear turned into a stone. |
