S. Korean Regime Accused of Its moves to Forcibly Disband Opposition Party

Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- An editorial condemning the illegal act of the south Korean puppet regime to forcibly disband an opposition party was posted on the south Korean internet paper Voice of People Wednesday. The editorial recalled that the regime passed a motion calling for judgment on disbanding the Unified Progressive Party (UPP) at a "meeting of the State Council" and the chief executive approved it. The Ministry of Justice lost no time to request the constitutional court to hold a trial for its disbandment and is working hard to deprive the lawmakers from the UPP of their "National Assembly" membership and ban their political activities, it noted. The passage of the motion means the revival of "the emergency measure" dating back to the erstwhile "yusin" dictatorship and a groundless decision running diametrically counter to the law on disbanding political parties, it added. The editorial accused the regime of employing a clumsy and base method to pass the motion by directly bringing up such crucial agenda item as the issue of disbanding a political party for discussion at the "meeting of the State Council" without discussing it at vice-ministers' meeting. The "Saenuri party," successor to the political party of such perpetrators of military coup and rebellion as Park Chung Hee and Chun Doo Hwan, is now being ridiculed and censured by the people as a party to be dissolved before any others for trampling down democracy, it said, adding: Everybody can guess that lurking behind the above-said tyrannical action is the private intention of the present chief executive to seek revenge upon the representative of the UPP who criticized the erstwhile dictators including Park Chung Hee. |
