Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- The All-People Measure Committee for Checking the Shutdown of Jaju Minbo of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 8 demanding the authorities stop the moves to shut down the progressive paper. At the press conference, the speakers denounced the Park Geun Hye regime's moves to shut down Jaju Minbo reporting truth as a revelation of a dictatorial action to eliminate all forces and media not to its liking. Absolutely unpardonable is the authorities' attempt to shut down Jaju Minbo which has called for a peaceful solution to the deteriorated north-south relations and opposed a war, they said, adding: The people should not allow the shutdown of the paper which has taken the lead in the actions to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the milestone of reunification, and achieve national prosperity. The Park Geun Hye regime's despicable attitude to blind and gag the people and turn south Korea into a land of darkness is also intolerable. They called upon all compatriots at home and abroad to turn out in the struggle to protect Jaju Minbo from actions of the Park regime which is disclosing its true colors as a dictatorial one, violating even the freedom of media. A statement was read out at the press conference. The statement noted that Jaju Minbo has worked hard for the independence and dignity of the nation and the peaceful reunification of the country, adding that crackdown on it is an act of going against them. The forces hell-bent on dictatorial suppression including moves to disband the Unified Progressive Party and close media will not be able to escape judgment by history, it warned. |
