U.S. Economic Sanctions Are Breach of International Law: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- U.S. harsh economic sanctions against various countries are a breach of international law, observes Rodong Sinmun Thursday in an article.

"Treaty on Definition of Aggression" which was adopted and came into force in the 1930s and a series of international treaties and resolutions stipulate it as an act of aggression and violation of international law to encroach upon the sovereignty and economic independence of other countries, put economic pressure to them to threaten the foundation of their economic arteries and apply economic blockade against them, the article notes.

The article cites facts to prove that the U.S. is slapping protracted economic sanctions against various countries, finding fault with their building of an independent new life and their social systems.

The U.S. is using sanctions as a main lever for forcing other countries to introduce American-style "view on value" and "democracy" and making them bound to the neo-colonial ruling system, the article points out, and goes on:

Such practices of the U.S. and other Western forces are quite contrary to the spirit of the UN Charter which calls for promoting economic and social progress of all people in establishing international relations.

The sanctions the U.S. imperialists are applying against the DPRK are unprecedented in history in their protracted nature and scope, and most harsh and base in their application. These sanctions are a product of the U.S. policy for stifling the DPRK and unethical and inhuman crimes to block the existence of the Korean people and the development of high civilization.

The U.S. should unconditionally lift the illegal and unreasonable sanctions.
