Korean Organization in Japan Denounces South Korean Authorities for Suppressing UPP
Tokyo, November 21 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Korean Human Rights Association in Japan some days ago released a statement in protest against the south Korean conservative group's moves to forcibly dissolve a legitimate progressive political party.

The statement accused the present ruling quarters in south Korea of filing a suit in the constitutional court for a judgment aimed at dissolving the Unified Progressive Party (UPP).

This fascist action is a grave challenge to democracy, the statement noted, and went on:

The UPP is a legitimate political party supported by the south Koreans desirous of independence, democracy and national reunification.

However, the present ruling forces are making desperate efforts to dissolve the progressive party at any cost. This is absolutely intolerable as it is tantamount to totally disregarding the will of the people who voted for the party in the election.

It is an elementary requirement of international law that the people's political and democratic rights should be guaranteed and it is the common sense of the international community that their will should be respected.

The ruling forces' above-said moves should be checked at once.
