Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a commentary in this regard:

What Ryu uttered is nothing but a jargon for confrontation of the guy who does not know what is shame on the nation.

The reunification desired by the Korean nation is not a reunification presupposing one side swallowing up the other. The country will become one only when foreign domination and interference in its affairs are terminated, the sovereignty of the nation is established and the north and the south achieve national unity as a homogenous nation.

This truth is clear to every Korean. It is, therefore, a tragedy that Ryu Kil Jae does not know about it though he styles himself "an expert on north Korean affairs".

Traitor Ryu jabbered one should not regard the tragedy of national division as "something disgraceful." This was cunning rhetoric intended to freeze the division and prevent the inter-Korean relations from being mended.

What matters is that lurking behind his outbursts is an attempt at achieving "the unification of the social systems".

Ryu is fit for the post of minister of confrontation, not minister of unification. It is impossible to improve the inter-Korean relations as long as such traitor as Ryu is holding the post of minister of Unification.

The quislings opposed to national reunification will not be able to escape a stern judgment by history and the nation.
