Rodong Sinmun Calls for Remaining True to Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"
Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The basic principle that the north and the south of Korea should observe and implement for achieving national reunification is the three principles of national reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- and the idea "By our nation itself", says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in an article.

The idea "By our nation itself" that is the essence of the June 15 joint declaration, a great programme for reunification common to the Korean nation in the 21st century, and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it, reflects the desire and wishes of all Koreans for independent and peaceful reunification and gives the most scientific answers to the complicated theoretical and practical issues arising in accomplishing the cause of national reunification.

A nation should handle its own affairs in conformity with its will and wishes. No one can take issue with this practice.

The above-said idea clarified by the north-south joint declarations is the idea of national independence from A to Z.

Its great vitality has been clearly proved in the practical struggle in the June 15 era of reunification.

If the inter-Korean relations are to be put on a normal orbit on the basis of the idea of "By our nation itself" and the independent reunification of the country is to be achieved, it is necessary to decisively eliminate the sycophants and traitors who stake their fate on dependence on foreign forces.

The confrontation between the north and the south of Korea is bound to spark off a war and it is only foreign aggressors who fish in troubled waters.

The adherence to the above-said idea is a specially important requirement for averting the danger of a war and achieving the peaceful reunification of the country.

Great national unity precisely means national reunification and it represents patriotism.

The south Korean ruling forces are sadly mistaken if they think they can get something by sticking to the "theory of adhering to the principle," a theory of confrontation with the DPRK.

The traitorous forces insisting on this theory while challenging the principle of reunification common to the nation are bound to meet destruction in face of the dynamic struggle of all Koreans to achieve independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
