Stop to S. Korean Regime's Crackdown on Teachers Union Demanded
Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the General Federation of World Teachers Organizations held a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 18 at which it demanded the south Korean regime stop its crackdown upon the Teachers Union (Jongyojo).

A speaker at the conference said he could not repress concern over such act of the south Korean regime as breaking the promise made with the international community as evidenced by its action taken to label Jongyojo "outlawed union" for the mere reason that it refuses to revise the rules of the organization recognizing the dismissed workers as unionists.

He held that freedom of expression and right to solidarity should be guaranteed, adding that the quality of education can be improved only when teachers are allowed to freely express their will.

If the south Korean regime does not stop the crackdown upon Jongyojo, it will not be able to participate in any international meeting on education, he warned.
