RBCK Accuses S. Korean Authorities of Suppressing Religionists
|
|
Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Religious Believers Council of Korea (RBCK) in a statement released on Friday said that the south Korean conservative group is frantically resorting to modern day witch-hunt by branding even the mass on the situation conducted by the south Korean Catholic Priests' Council for Justice as the one "following the north" but this campaign cannot be a cure-all for tiding over the worst ruling crisis. The statement denounced the "yusin" group for kicking up a whirlwind of fascist suppression by deliberately linking with the DPRK the just demand and righteous struggle of the south Korean Catholic Priests' Council for Justice. It continued: It is a fact recognized by all south Koreans irrespective of men and women, young and old that "the presidential election" last year was evidently a fraudulent election conducted with all power organs involved. Consequently, people's candlelight rallies protesting against the Park Geun Hye regime have gained in scope and strength over the past six months. Only a tiny handful of ruling quarters such as "Chongwadae" and "the Saenuri Party" lend no ear to this strong public protest in south Korea. It is quite natural for the religionists to condemn the social evils as they have always stood for the justice of the popular masses. Even under the grim situation that prevailed in the 1970s when south Korea was under the worst "yusin" fascist dictatorial rule, churches were venues of actions to democratize the society and the priests of the south Korean Catholic Priests' Council for Justice and other religionists in south Korea unhesitatingly joined in the dynamic struggle against the dictatorship. The south Korean religionists' tradition of struggle is given continuity and it is supported by fair-minded people of broad strata even at present when the "yusin" dictatorship is reviving. Only the public stern judgment and punishment await devils hell-bent on prolonging their remaining days by blocking social progress, challenging the public and resorting to injustice. We will extend positive support and solidarity to the south Korean Catholic Priests' Council for Justice and other religious organizations and believers in their just and righteous struggle as religionists of the same blood. The RBCK is sure that the religious institutions and organizations and religionists all over the world will send full support and solidarity to the religionists in south Korea in their struggle against injustice. |
