An official report on the formation of the committee was issued by the Union Solidarity and Development Party of Myanmar.

Aung Thein Lynn, member of the Central Executive Committee of the party, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee decided to hold various events such as remembrance meeting, round-table talks, film show and photo exhibition for a month from November 25 to join all people of the DPRK and other progressives of the world in commemorating the second anniversary of demise of leader Kim Jong Il.
