Anniversary of DPRK-China Agreement Marked in China

Beijing, December 1 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Culture of China jointly hosted a reception on November 29 to mark the 60th anniversary of the inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in economy and culture between the DPRK and China. Present there on invitation were DPRK Ambassador to China Ji Jae Ryong and staff members of his embassy. A vice-minister of Commerce and other officials of the ministries of Commerce, Culture, Foreign Affairs and the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China attended. Speeches were made there. The vice-minister of Commerce said that the Sino-Korean friendship had been provided and cultivated by the leaders of the elder generations of the two countries. Premier Zhou Enlai and President Kim Il Sung signed the agreement 60 years ago, providing a framework for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, transport, culture and education, he added, stressing this helped steadily consolidate the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation. He noted with pleasure that the Korean people have achieved positive successes under the guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by Marshal Kim Jong Un. The party and people of China are making efforts to open the wider avenue of the socialist cause with the Chinese characteristics, he stressed. The DPRK ambassador said that over the past six decades the agreement greatly helped the two countries push ahead with socialist construction, support and cooperate with each other in various fields including economy and culture and develop the friendly relations. He expressed expectation that the Chinese people would carry out the tasks set forth at the 3rd plenary meeting of 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China under the guidance of the CPC with Xi Jinping as its general secretary and thus achieve greater successes in the drive of realizing the dream of China and building socialism with the Chinese characteristics. Referring to the dynamic struggle waged by the Korean people in building a thriving socialist nation and improving the standard of people's living under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Un, the ambassador expressed the belief that the traditional DPRK-China friendship provided and cultivated by Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il together with the Chinese leaders of the elder generations would further develop onto a higher stage as desired by the peoples of the two countries. |
