Kim Jong Il always found himself among the people in his lifetime, making a long journey covering nearly 670 000 km to give on-the-spot guidance to different fields of the country even in inclement or hot weather conditions.

It was his motto that people's interests should be put ahead of all others and he would always remain a son of the people.

He never allowed even a slightest move contrary to the interests of people.

While remaining true to his promises with the people, he never cared about himself, spending days and nights in guidance tours until the last moments of his life.

During the last days of his life, he guided a flight training of a unit of the Korean People's Army (KPA) honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment, toured the Amusement Park in Kaeson Youth Park and appreciated a figure skating demonstration and a performance given by soldiers of KPA companies who proved successful at the 35th Art Festival of KPA Servicepersons. He also went to South Hamgyong Province to give field guidance to its different sectors, guided a firepower strike drill of a KPA unit and visited the Hana Musical Information Center and the Kwangbok Area Supermarket.

Indeed, Kim Jong Il was a peerlessly great man and patriot who dedicated his all to laying eternal foundations for the wellbeing and happiness of the people, overcoming all sorts of ordeals and difficulties.

His immortal exploits performed on behalf of the country and nation will remain forever in the hearts of the people.

It is a steadfast will of the DPRK people to hold him in high esteem for all ages.
