DPRK Students Prove Successful at Int'l Bayan and Accordion Concours

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Students of the DPRK proved successful at the First Belyakov Cup International Bayan and Accordion Concours held in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan of Russia from November 30 to December 1. The concours brought together more than 120 teachers and students of art education institutions and artistes from different countries including the DPRK, Russia and Belarus. The concours, the first of its kind, was aimed at finding out the world's talented bayan and accordion players and widely disseminating folk music. Divided into eight groups according to ages, its participants competed in solo and ensemble. DPRK student Jon Yong Ju took the special place by successfully playing music pieces requiring high skill and artistry with bayan in bayan and accordion solo of the group of students. Yun Hyok In came first while Choe Hyok Chol finished second. Three students of the DPRK in bayan trio successfully presented the Korean song "Taehongdan of 3 000-ri" and famous foreign songs to prove the best of the 10 groups in ensemble and place first. The Korean students were awarded relevant diplomas at the closing ceremony held on Dec. 1. Belyakov, head of the jury of the concours, and Bayan Prof. Siroezhkin of the Music Academy Named after Gnesin and other music experts congratulated the Korean students on showcasing their high skills. |
