Rodong Sinmun Accuses Japan of Its Moves to Enact Law on Protecting Special Secrets

Pyongyang, December 7 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government's desperate moves to institute a law on protecting special secrets are aimed at setting up a fascist system dating back to the era of Japanese imperialism, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in an article. The bill the present ultra-right Japanese government seeks to adopt is designed to enforce repressive military dictatorship and push forward its scenario for overseas expansion in real earnest, the article notes, and goes on: It is the intention of the Japanese ruling forces to reduce the working masses to slaves of militarism who blindly obey them without any resistance. The Japanese imperialists did so during their past rule. While invading Korea and its neighboring countries and igniting the Pacific War, they kept everything in top secrecy ranging from the drafting of their scenarios to methods of their implementation, etc. At that time broad strata of working masses in Japan just served as talking tools for carrying out their scenarios of aggression, knowing nothing about them. The present ruling forces in Japan seek to concentrate all powers on the state administrative organs and further increase the authority of the repressive machinery. In case the above-said bill passes through the Diet, it will abridge the right of ordinary public officials while dramatically increasing the power of judicial bodies. If this happens, even the opening of trifling information to public would make ordinary public officials liable to heavy punishment as criminals according to judgment and assertions of law-enforcement officials. This will, at the same time, lead to weakening the Diet's function of watching the state administrative organs but strengthening such repressive machinery as the "Self-Defense Forces" and police. Such phenomena as paralyzing the function of the Diet and rendering it defunct could be found in the erstwhile fascist countries. The attempt to adopt the bill is nothing but a farce staged by the militarist forces to have a tight grip on power and create an internal environment for rushing headlong into overseas expansion. The reemergence of the fascist system in Japan would put peace and security in Northeast Asia and other parts of the Asia-Pacific region at peril. |
