Assistance to Collieries Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 9 (KCNA) -- A campaign for assisting collieries has gained momentum in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Leader Kim Jong Il in his lifetime had paid deep attention to beefing up material and technical foundations of local collieries and improving the livelihood of coal miners. True to his lifetime intention, people throughout the country have turned out in the efforts to assist coal mines which play a key role in building the country into an economic power. Ministries and national institutions, including the State Planning Commission, the General Bureau of Public Service, the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, have rendered active assistance to coal mines in Tokchon and Sunchon areas, encouraging coal miners to increase the production. In South Phyongan Province, officials of provincial institutions and other organs handed to coal miners a large quantity of aid materials including accessories and small tools, inspiring them to successfully fulfill their production plan. And artists in the province are taking part in agitation activities for coal miners. North Phyongan Province is giving positive assistance to collieries under the Kujang Area Coal Mining Complex. Cities and counties of the province sent to collieries a lot of aid materials like items for labor protection. In South Hamgyong Province, every senior official takes charge of a colliery to settle problems in the production. The province attaches most importance to the supply of electricity to coal mines while rendering necessities to them. The February 8 Vinalon Complex, the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and other complexes are also taking the lead in assisting coal mines. |
