Kim Kuk Thae Dies

Pyongyang. December 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Kuk Thae, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the DPRK and chairman of the Control Commission of the C.C., WPK, died of acute heart failure and dyspnoea at 18:20 on Dec. 13, at the age of 89. Born into a revolutionary family on Aug. 27, Juche 13 (1924), he grew up to be an able official under the care of President Kim Il Sung after the liberation of the country and devotedly worked for the development of the party and the revolutionary armed forces and for the prosperity of the socialist country. In the postwar period he devotedly defended the idea and authority of the party and the leader by waging a principled struggle to eliminate the aftereffects of the anti-party, counter-revolutionary factional elements who challenged the party point-blank. He also contributed to establishing solid monolithic ideological system throughout the party and firmly ensuring the party's leadership over the revolutionary armed forces while working at responsible posts of the Central Committee of the WPK, the Korean People's Army (KPA) and people's security organ in the period of the comprehensive socialist construction. He worked as an instructor, section chief and vice department director of the C.C., WPK since Juche 45 (1956), as a vice-director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA and director of the Political Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security since Juche 52 (1963), as a department director of the C.C., WPK, principal of Kim Il Sung Higher Party School and secretary of the C.C., WPK since Juche 56 (1967) and as chairman of the Control Commission of the C.C., WPK since Juche 99 (2010). He worked as alternate member, member of the C.C., WPK since Juche 56 (1967) and as member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK since September, Juche 99 (2010). He was elected a deputy to the 4th SPA in Juche 56 (1967) and worked as a deputy since the 7th SPA in Juche 71 (1982). He was awarded a lot of state citations including Order of Kim Il Sung and Order of Kim Jong Il, the highest orders of the DPRK, and Order of National Flag 1st Class for his distinguished feats for the party and revolution, the country and people. That day an obituary of Kim Kuk Thae was released in the joint name of the Central Committee of the WPK and the Presidium of the DPRK SPA. Noting that Kim Kuk Thae was a revolutionary soldier faithful to the WPK who dedicated his all to the triumphant advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche, true to the leadership of the party and the leader, the obituary said although he died, the exploits he performed for the cause of the party and revolution will be everlasting. The Central Committee of the WPK and the Presidium of the DPRK SPA announced that the late Kim Kuk Thae would be accorded a state funeral and formed a funeral committee with Kim Yong Nam as its chairman and Pak Pong Ju and 52 others as its members. The funeral committee said that the bier of the deceased is placed at the Sojang Club of Pothonggang District, Pyongyang, it would receive mourners from 10:00 to 19:00 on Dec. 15 and the hearse would leave the club at 08:00 on Dec. 16. |
