The article said that Kim Jong Il worked as chairman of the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK, taking on his shoulders the destiny of the motherland and the nation. During the days he defended socialism from the worst trials and adversities unprecedented in history and made the DPRK demonstrate its might as a political, ideological and military power, it added.

It noted that he established the Songun politics as the main political mode under socialism as required by the changed situation, comprehensively applied it to all fields of the revolution and construction and thus provided a sure guarantee for defending the sovereignty and dignity of the country and successfully advancing the cause of socialism.

It went on:

He directed big efforts to strengthening the defence capabilities and thus developed the revolutionary armed forces into a matchless army, turned the DPRK into a state manufacturing and launching satellites and a nuclear weapons state and consolidated the political and ideological position of the DPRK as firm as a rock.

The service personnel and people of the DPRK modernized or newly built a lot of production bases, gave face-lifting to the appearance of the country and laid a firm material and technological foundation for the building of a thriving nation, closely united with one mind under the Songun leadership of Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il.

It is by no means fortuitous that the Korean people are holding him as the eternal chairman of the NDC in high esteem.
