Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Remembrance meetings took place in Cotonou, Benin on December 4 and 6 on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of demise of General Secretry Kim Jong Il. Ali Houdou, president of the Socialist Party of Benin, said in his speech that the steel-like unity and cohesion of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) would be unthinkable apart from the extraordinary leadership of Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il developed the WPK into an organizational and ideological crystal based on one centre, one thought and purpose, the president said, and went on: He made the whole party arm itself with the idea of leader and be rallied close around the leader and form a perfect harmonious whole in which it acts as one under the guidance of the leader. The party, army and people form a harmonious whole in the DPRK thanks to the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Il, an unprecedented reality in the world history of politics. Hessou Kohovi, president of the Beninese National Committee for Remembering General Kim Jong Il, said that Kim Jong Il held aloft the banner of Songun late in the last century when the imperialists became evermore undisguised in their high-handed and arbitrary practices. He went on: A war could be averted on the Korean Peninsula, an acute hotspot, and peace and security in Northeast Asia and the rest of the world defended as he strengthened the military capabilities in every way. The Songun politics has helped the DPRK develop into a full-fledged political, ideological and military power and lay a firm springboard for the building of an economic power. Pascal Zouncheme, chief of the Benin Group for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, praised Kim Jong Il, a peerlessly great man, for taking warm loving care of the people, adding that it was his view of life to serve the people and dedicate himself to them. Messages to Kim Jong Un were adopted at the meetings. |
