The president said:

President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il rendered material and moral assistance to African countries in the struggle for achieving independence and building a new society. This is deeply enshrined in the minds of the African people.

I, on behalf of the member nations of the ECOWAS and on my own behalf, pay highest tribute to Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of his demise.

I wish the Korean people greater successes in the efforts to defend the sovereignty of the country, build an economic power and improve the standard of people's living under the wise guidance of HE Kim Jong Un.

Korea will surely be reunified by the efforts of the Korean people free from the interference of foreign forces.

I highly praise the DPRK for boosting cooperation in the political, economic and other fields in close touch with the member nations of the ECOWAS.

I extend support and solidarity to the Korean people's just cause.
