Exhibition of Landscape Painting, Embroideries and Handicrafts Opens

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- A national exhibition of landscape paintings, embroideries and handicrafts was open at the Pyongyang International House of Culture on Friday to celebrate the 96th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. Displayed in the center of the venue of the exhibition is a painting portraying Kim Jong Suk performing her duty as bodyguard for President Kim Il Sung in the period of building a new country just as she did during the anti-Japanese armed struggle. Also on display is oil painting "Saying I Have Come to See My Soldiers" depicting leader Kim Jong Il finding himself among service personnel of the Korean People's Army. Exhibited are at least 170 fine art works including Korean paintings, oil paintings, embroideries and handicrafts produced by artists across the country. Oil painting "Jong Il Peak Seen from Saja Peak" and Korean painting "Pine Tree on Lagoon Samil" make visitors look back on the noble revolutionary life and feats of the woman commander of Mt. Paektu who remained most loyal to Kim Il Sung and brought a rosy future of Songun Korea. Also displayed at the exhibition are Korean paintings "Brilliant Snowflakes" and "Happy Night", oil painting "Munsu Water Park under Loving Care" which represent the stirring reality of the DPRK where the noble desire of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu has come true thanks to Marshal Kim Jong Un. Among those exhibits are Koryo celadon with a long-standing history and tradition, ceramic crafts and stoneworks. Officials in the field of culture and art, artists, drawing lovers and other people and students in the city went round the exhibition. |
